About Selena

Hi there! My name is Selena, and I'm thrilled to offer Spanish and Italian tutoring services for beginners to adults. As someone who completed a 4-year BA Modern Languages degree, I have gained a comprehensive understanding of these languages, enabling me to provide high-quality lessons tailored to your learning needs.
During my studies, I had the incredible opportunity to live and study in Spain for a year, immersing myself in the language, culture, and traditions. This experience has not only enhanced my fluency but has also provided me with valuable insights into the nuances of the Spanish language, which I'm eager to share with my students.
Alongside my studies, I work as a Teaching Assistant, primarily focusing on children between the ages of 3 and 6. This role has strengthened my ability to effectively communicate with young learners and adapt my teaching methods to their unique learning styles. I believe that creating a fun, engaging, and supportive learning environment is essential for their success and enjoyment.
In addition to my academic qualifications and teaching experience, I recently completed a 120-hour Premier TEFL course, which has equipped me with practical teaching skills and strategies that I'm eager to implement in my lessons. I am confident that this additional certification further enhances my ability to deliver effective and rewarding language instruction.
As a person, I strive to bring happiness, ambition, self-motivation, positivity, care, and punctuality to every tutoring session. I believe that building a trusting and respectful relationship with my students is crucial in fostering an environment where they feel comfortable and motivated to learn.

About the lesson

My teaching techniques and methodology include:
- grammar lessons for alphabet, phonics, verbs, and various structures.
- grammar tasks such as: writing words to complete a text, choosing the correct option, completing the gaps, word formation, and sentence transformation.
- listening to audio clips and responding to "True or False" questions.
- dictating paragraphs and letting students write them down.
- dedicating some time for the student to read paragraphs out loud to check accuracy.
- games to practice reading/understanding/speaking.

The main focus of every lesson is the student, and lessons are tailored based on their needs and age. I teach Spanish and Italian at a beginner level to adults.

I completed the BA Modern Languages degree which qualifies me with proficiency levels of Italian and Spanish.
