About Michelle

Hello, I’m Michelle. I was born and raised in South Australia and have spent much of my working life teaching, coaching and helping people feel comfortable while learning something new.

For more than 20 years, I have also welcomed international students into my home as a homestay mom. This has given me a wonderful understanding of the experience of arriving in Australia, adjusting to a different culture and finding the confidence to communicate in everyday life. I have met students who arrived speaking excellent English and others who initially felt very nervous about speaking at all.

For 12 years, I owned and operated my own boutique yoga and meditation studio, where I taught up to 15 classes each week. I am also an internationally accredited Results Coach and a qualified natural and remedial therapist, bringing many years of experience working patiently and compassionately with people from different backgrounds.

As a mother of four now-adult children, I am equally comfortable working with older teenagers and adults.

I am currently completing my TEFL/TESOL qualification because, alongside the experience I already bring, it is important to me to develop recognized specialist knowledge in teaching English as a second language.

Most of all, I want you to know that you do not need to speak perfect English with me. You are welcome to take your time, ask questions, make mistakes and learn at your own pace.

About the lesson

My English sessions are designed to help you feel comfortable speaking, learning and making mistakes without feeling embarrassed or judged.

Lessons are relaxed, friendly and practical, with plenty of real conversation. We can work together on everyday English, fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary, listening and the areas that matter most to you. If you are preparing to study, work or live in Australia, I can also help you become more familiar with everyday Australian English, expressions and conversation.

I speak with a warm, clear Australian voice and a gentle, natural pace, giving you plenty of opportunity to become comfortable listening and responding in real conversation.

Every lesson is shaped around you — your current English, your interests, your goals and the situations in which you would most like to feel more confident. A typical session is 60 minutes, and my lessons are suitable for older teenagers and adults at all levels.

I am currently completing my TEFL/TESOL qualification and bring many years of teaching, coaching and real-life experience with international students to my English sessions.
