I first met Mrs. Jacoby when we were both substitute teaching at a local high school. We later worked together in a youth summer camp program at Hagerstown Community College, and then had the opportunity to work together again as science teachers at that same high school.

The very first time we met, while substituting in a high school classroom, I was impressed with Mrs. Jacoby. Even though it wasn't her full-time classroom, she knew the students, played games with them, and genuinely wanted to get to know them and what was going on in their lives. I was new to teaching at the time and remember thinking that she was exactly the kind of teacher I wanted to be.

When we later worked together at Hedgesville High School, it was my first year as a full-time high school teacher, and Mrs. Jacoby became my unofficial mentor. She approached me much the same way she approaches her students—with curiosity, empathy, and enthusiasm. She was always willing to stay late to answer my many questions about lessons, help me think through how to explain a difficult concept, or talk through the complicated situations with students that inevitably come up in a classroom.

I would highly recommend Mrs. Jacoby to anyone looking for a science tutor. She has experience teaching science at both the middle and high school levels and is especially good at connecting with students and getting them involved in the learning process. She doesn't just give students answers—she asks questions, gets them thinking, and encourages them to be curious about what they're learning. She's outgoing, personable, patient, and genuinely enjoys working with young people.

I've learned a lot about teaching from working alongside Mrs. Jacoby, and I would feel completely confident recommending her to a student who needs extra help in science, whether they're struggling with the material or just looking to build their confidence and understanding.

Jessica is a brilliant colleague of mine. She is patient and kind and is quick to connect and understand the needs of students. Her lab ideas are original and interesting. She has a variety of expertise and life experience to pull from including travel and extreme sports. She is quite possibly the most organized person I know. Her skillset will enrich any child’s educational experience.

I would 110% recommend Mrs. Jacoby as a tutor, she’s a great teacher. She takes the time to teach everything step by step, she always stops to make sure you understand everything she’s teaching! She was my environmental science teacher and i couldn’t have asked for a better teacher she is amazing!!! Any kid would be lucky to have her tutor them!!

I highly recommend Jess to work in nearly any capacity with children. She was a rockstar teacher under my supervision in the past. She worked hard to build relationships with students that lasted! Middle-schoolers adored her, and that’s no small accomplishment. Instructionally, she was well-planned and always highly effective!
