About Jenny

I am a Modern Foreign Languages graduate from the University of Edinburgh and a primary school teacher with a specialism in Spanish. I have lived in Spain for several years and have a strong personal and professional connection with the language and culture.

I have extensive experience teaching Spanish and English as a Foreign Language to children and adults, both in the UK and abroad. I have taught in schools and as a private tutor, working with pupils of different ages and abilities. My experience includes teaching in nursery, primary and secondary settings in Spain, as well as teaching English in language colleges.

I particularly enjoy helping children and young people develop their confidence in Spanish and discover that learning a language can be both useful and enjoyable. As a teacher, I am patient, approachable and enthusiastic, and I adapt my lessons to suit the individual pupil.

I now work as a private tutor in York, offering Spanish tuition both online and in person.

About the lesson

I offer Spanish lessons tailored to the age, ability and individual needs of each pupil. Whether your child is learning Spanish for the first time, needs support with their schoolwork, is preparing for GCSE or wants to develop their confidence and fluency, I will plan lessons around their specific goals.

I believe that learning a language should be enjoyable as well as purposeful. I use a variety of activities, games, conversation, real-life situations and tailored resources to develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. I aim to create a relaxed and supportive environment where pupils feel comfortable practising their Spanish and making mistakes as part of the learning process.

For pupils studying Spanish at school, I can provide additional support with the curriculum and help prepare for assessments and exams. Lessons can also be adapted for pupils who would like to develop their Spanish beyond what they are currently learning at school.
