About Cynthia
My classroom is rigorous without being intimidating and supportive without lowering expectations. I want students to know that they are capable of more than they may initially believe, while also understanding that mistakes, questions, and experimentation are essential parts of the learning process.
Ultimately, my goal is to prepare actors to engage thoughtfully and skillfully with a wide range of styles, techniques, and professional standards while developing a strong sense of their own unique artistic voice. I strive to cultivate fearless, meticulous, confident, knowledgeable, technically proficient, and dynamic performers—artists who possess both the courage to take creative risks and the discipline to do the work behind those risks.
I hold an MFA in Performance and a BFA in Musical Theater, and I have performed professionally in theater, tours, film, and commercials. I have also taught acting, musical theater, voice and movement, and theater to students ranging from young children to graduate-level university students.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that every human being already knows how to act! Students arrive with different experiences, abilities, cultures, learning styles, and levels of confidence, but my job is to meet you where you are and help you develop the confidence, technical proficiency, and knowledge to do what you already know how to do: tell clear, engaging, fully embodied stories that deeply affect others.
I work with beginning, intermediate, and advanced actors, including children, teens, college students, and adults. Together we can tackle monologues, scene study, musical theater, college and professional auditions, self-tapes, screen-acting techniques, public speaking, or simply building confidence as performers. Whether a student is taking their first acting class, preparing for a college audition, working toward a professional audition, or simply looking to grow as an artist, I tailor each lesson to their individual goals and needs.
In a typical lesson, we begin with a vocal and physical warm-up before moving into scene work, monologues, audition material, improvisation, or another area the student would like to develop. I introduce students to a variety of approaches and techniques, teach them how to self-reflect on their work, and give them a practical toolkit they can continue to use independently. My approach is not simply to give students notes, but to teach them how to make thoughtful choices and understand the process behind those choices.
