About Mika Miro

Hi! I’m Mika, a first-year MEng Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Sheffield. I’ve always enjoyed mathematics and its applications in the real world—something I now explore daily in my degree and through my work with Autodesk CADCAM Educators Hub, where I support students and professionals in engineering software, such as Fusion and Revit.

I believe everyone can “get” maths with the right approach, and I love helping students build confidence, ask questions freely, and truly understand the subject rather than just memorising steps. Whether you're aiming for a top grade or just trying to keep up, I tailor lessons to you, making tricky topics simpler, showing how maths fits together, and (hopefully) making it a little more enjoyable too. Don't let school limit your learning!

About the lesson

Each lesson is fully tailored to the student’s current needs—whether that’s preparing for an upcoming exam or building a stronger foundation in a particular topic.

While I’m flexible in my approach, I usually follow a loose structure for a 1-hour session to ensure we cover concepts thoroughly and build problem-solving confidence:

First 10–15 minutes: We’ll outline the session’s focus, cover the background theory, and work through some key examples together.

Next 20–25 minutes: We’ll explore different problem types, with the student taking the lead while I guide and support them through their thinking.

Next 15–20 minutes: We’ll work through one problem step-by-step, then the student will try a few questions independently to consolidate their understanding.

Final few minutes: If time allows, I’ll connect the topic to real-world applications—this often helps make the material more memorable and meaningful.

I also provide optional practice materials and questions for students to work on between sessions, especially if they’d like more support alongside their schoolwork.

I am based in both Liverpool (Wavertree Area) and Sheffield (Crookesmoor Area). During the Academic year, I am in Sheffield, and during the off-season, in Liverpool!

I offer an hourly rate of £18 for Online Lessons and £20 for in-person lessons!
