About Kiy
Hi! I’m Kiy, a senior Mechanical and Energy Engineering student at the University of North Texas with a minor in Mathematics. I’ve spent a lot of time working through challenging math, science, and engineering courses, so I understand how frustrating it can be when something just doesn’t make sense at first.
I’m patient, dependable, and always willing to explain something in a different way until it clicks. I currently work as a substitute teacher and also have experience helping other students with math. I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace.
Most importantly, I want tutoring to feel encouraging and enjoyable. My goal is for students to leave each lesson feeling more confident than when they started!

I know what it feels like to be confused by a subject, so I focus on explaining things in different ways until they finally click. My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and personalized to each student. I like to break difficult math and science problems into smaller steps, use real-world examples, and give students time to work through problems with guidance instead of simply giving them the answer.
A typical lesson starts with reviewing what the student is currently learning and identifying where they are struggling. From there, we work through examples together, practice similar problems, and end by reviewing the main concepts so the student feels more confident on their own !
