My Teaching Approach & Methodology
I believe that learning should be about understanding and curiosity, not just memorization. Because every student learns differently, I adapt my style to match their individual pace. Here are the core techniques I use in my online classes:
The "Why" Before the "What": Instead of asking students to memorize facts, I explain the concepts behind them. For Science, this means relating topics to everyday life. For Social Studies, I turn history and geography into engaging stories rather than just dates and maps.
Active Recall & Interactive Quizzes: At the start of each session, we do a quick, fun 5-minute recap of the previous lesson. This builds confidence and ensures the foundation is solid before moving forward.
Visual and Practical Learning: I use colorful slides, diagrams, and digital whiteboards. For English, we practice language skills through interactive reading, creative writing prompts, and real-time conversation practice rather than dry grammar drills.
A Positive, Patient Environment: Mistakes are a natural part of learning. I maintain a warm, encouraging atmosphere where students feel comfortable asking questions until they completely understand a topic
Structure & Length of a Lesson
To maximize focus and retention, especially for online learning, a standard lesson is 60 minutes.
Here is how a typical 1-hour session is structured:
00–05 mins: Warm-up and review of previous concepts.
05–40 mins: Core lesson (introducing new topics using visual aids and interactive discussion).
40–50 mins: Guided practice (solving questions together, reading exercises, or concept mapping).
50–60 mins: Wrap-up, student summary (where they explain what they learned back to me), and a preview of the next topic.
(Note: Lesson lengths can be adjusted to 45 minutes for younger children with shorter attention spans, or 90 minutes for intensive exam preparation, depending on the student's needs.)
