About Felix
I’m a third-year Computer Science student at Maynooth University with a 98.5% average in CS modules, and I genuinely love teaching. Last year, I discovered that explaining code to someone struggling with it is just as rewarding as writing it myself—maybe more. I work as a tutor in Maynooth’s CS Centre, where I’ve helped dozens of students move from confusion to confidence in Java and OOP. Beyond that, I’ve taught programming fundamentals through CoderDojo workshops and mentored teams on collaborative software development. I’m not just here to pass on answers; I’m here because I remember the exact moment when computer science finally clicked for me, and I want that for you too. I’m patient, approachable, and genuinely invested in your success—your questions aren’t interruptions, they’re the whole point.

I believe in learning by doing, theory without practice is dead code. My methodology combines clear concept explanations with immediate hands-on coding exercises. We’ll work through real problems, debug together, and build projects that solidify your understanding. Each lesson is tailored to your pace: some students need deep dives into algorithmic thinking, others need confidence-building through small wins.
Typical lesson structure: 5–10 minutes reviewing previous work, 20–30 minutes exploring new concepts with live coding examples, 15–20 minutes guided practice where you code while I mentor, closing with a challenge or assignment for next time.
Who these lessons are for: Complete beginners aged 16+ wanting to learn programming properly, anyone preparing for technical interviews or coursework deadlines.
My approach: I was where you are, I remember the frustration of inheritance not clicking, of arrays feeling abstract. I’ve tutored through CoderDojo and the Maynooth CS Centre, so I know what questions to ask to unstick you. Flexible 1-hour or 90-minute sessions, online or in-person in Kilkenny.
