About Fiona
Hi, i am a qualified teacher with more than 10 years in a variety of schools in Victoria teaching English and humanities, Religious education (In Catholic schools), health, art and psychology. I have recently qualified with a Master of Social Work and this complements my focus on the development of the whole person. I have a special interest in holistic health and personal development.
Some of my own interests include going to the gym, photographing nature and Life drawing. I also love reading novels by Australian authors like Kate Grenville, Peter Carey, Tim Winton, Geraldine Brooks and Sonya Hartnett.

I also like to teach story from a novel analyzing the text using film and other media, i like variety in teaching methods and enjoy co designing tasks and assessments with the student/s themselves.
This could be using the setting of the story to compare other like stories and how this influences the characters and plot. Where possible I like to relate the story to the student/s experience.
It is important for the student to understand Assessment criteria for tasks and this is clarified from the start.
I am a stickler for correct grammar and encourage students to spend time on these skills for the clarity of expression.
I teach students sound methods for the construction of argumentative, persuasive and narrative essays and general writing for different purposes and audiences including resumes and job applications.
