About Jonathan
As a First-Class Mathematics and Statistics graduate from Queen's University Belfast, I understand that maths can sometimes feel challenging or overwhelming. My goal as a tutor is to make difficult topics easier to understand and help students develop confidence in their abilities.
I take a patient and supportive approach, adapting lessons to suit each student's learning style and pace. Whether you need help with a particular topic, exam preparation, or simply want to improve your confidence in maths, I aim to provide clear explanations and create a relaxed environment where no question is too small.

My approach to tutoring is centred around building understanding and confidence. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their problem-solving skills. Rather than simply providing answers, I guide students through concepts step-by-step to ensure they understand the reasoning behind each solution.
I adapt my teaching style to the individual needs of each student. Lessons typically involve reviewing key concepts, working through examples together, and then allowing students to attempt questions independently with guidance where needed. I also focus on exam technique, identifying common mistakes, and developing effective revision strategies.
A typical lesson lasts between 60 and 90 minutes, although this can be adjusted depending on the student's needs and preferences.
I hold a First-Class BSc in Mathematics and Statistics with Operational Research from Queen's University Belfast. Throughout my degree, I developed strong analytical and communication skills and gained experience explaining mathematical and statistical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences through presentations and group projects.
My lessons are suitable for secondary school and sixth-form students studying Mathematics or Statistics, including GCSE and A-Level students. I welcome learners of all abilities, whether they are aiming to improve confidence, strengthen their understanding of difficult topics, or achieve top grades.
