I offer both structured lessons and school support. We can adapt to the needs at hand, or follow a timed plan - in either case, I enjoy course design, and we can either use my readymade lessons or tailor something to the occasion. For fellow philosophers, I am happy to engage in a loose "Socratic" format.
I focus heavily on bringing out what is interesting, moving, and important in a given area of philosophy, as well as coaxing out the latent philosopher in my students. I want to leave people feeling confident and inspired in the subject, whether or not they are all to become philosophy majors.
I focus in philosophy of science, philosophy of religion, and German philosophy (particularly Kant, but I can teach German Idealism as well as German phenomenology and existentialism). I wrote my master's thesis on Kant and psychoanalysis, concerning trans-empirical identity.
I have also taught courses in philosophy of art.
