About Karen
I have ten years of experience teaching and tutoring many languages to students of different ages and circumstances. I have worked in the school system helping students catch up in subjects when they were grades behind - I’m so happy that recently I caught up a student six whole grades over the course of tutoring them and now they’re ahead a grade instead of behind multiple grades!
I create flexible learning that adapts to your needs: from teaching Arabic to adults, English as a second language to all ages, to Chinese to toddlers, I have learned to customize my teaching to what each student needs to succeed.
I graduated with my Master’s in Arabic Language and Linguistics with a 4.0/4.0 Grade Point Average (GPA). I am now training to be an Arabic medical interpreter, so I have experience learning professional vocabulary in Arabic.

I assess your strengths and weaknesses with language learning, your current language level in different areas, and clarify your language objectives over what time period you’d like to reach them.
If you’re a beginner, do you know the alphabet? We’ll practice that until you can read Arabic script and introduce new learning materials that will vastly expand your access to vocabulary and grammar. I’ll teach you vocabulary right away with the alphabet so it’s fun and exciting and doesn’t feel like rote memorization!
Are you intermediate and not sure where to focus next with your studies? I’ll check different topics and skills in speaking, reading, writing, and listening to help you plan your learning. How comfortable are you with tenses? Do you get anxious speaking Arabic to native speakers? Not only will we talk about tools to improve and go through customized lessons, but I’ll help support you through language learning anxieties and negativity as your Arabic teacher.
Advanced? Maybe it’s time for something new. How many different topics can you discuss? What about professional topics in Arabic? Can you understand medical news in Arabic? What about describing complex emotions? Literature? Can you write a paper in Arabic? What about editing Arabic without resorting to AI?
