About Stephanie
I once thought university was out of my reach. I have dyslexia and I often did not get the grades required to progress at the same pace as my fellow pupils in school. The reason for this was largely because of my lack of confidence when it came to pursuing higher education. However, I persevered and attained the grades I did not get the opportunity to achieve at secondary school at college instead. I took a longer route to higher education than most people who stayed on until the final year of secondary school – but this taught me a great lesson and I have worked hard to progress to a Master of Science. I feel I can offer first-hand experience of building students’ confidence in themselves and in their abilities to succeed.

I graduated from the MSc Animal Welfare, Ethics, and Law programme in November 2021 at the University of Glasgow. I was awarded a grade of Merit. I am currently employed as a Postgraduate Tutor for the University of Glasgow, tutoring secondary school students a course known as 'Top-Up'. The Top-Up Programme focuses on target groups such as young adults from deprived areas, asylum seekers and refugees to encourage them to participate in higher education. My main role is to teach transferable skills such as planning, critical thinking, scientific report production, and essay writing. I grad students on three assessed areas of the course at university level; seminar, reflective learning log and a scientific report or essay.
I have also taught English at a boarding school in Spain. I assisted students aged between 13-18 years old with the taught materials required for the completion of the Cambridge English B2 Qualification. I developed lesson plans and guided language activities including songs, pronunciation games, story-telling and other pedagogical exercises, and extracurricular activities in all disciplines – arts, music, maths, and science.
I tutor for a range of ages and sessions last 1 hour.
