  • Q 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

My interest in education began during my undergraduate years while tutoring my niece and nephews, which sparked a passion for mentoring. This grew into a commitment to service when I completed an internship teaching underprivileged children, a role I voluntarily extended for two years.
To formalize this passion, I earned my B.Ed. and M.Ed. degrees. I initially joined a virtual school to balance my academic career with family responsibilities, gaining a 360-degree view of the education system from both the teacher’s and student’s perspectives.
After a decade of balancing a demanding school schedule with family life, I transitioned to online private tutoring. I’ve found this modern, global approach to be far more effective and precise, allowing for a personalized focus on student growth that a traditional classroom often lacks.
  • Q 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less.

My expertise lies in bridge-building: bridging the gap between a learner’s current foundation and their professional goals. I focus on high-stakes communication coaching- specifically IELTS and CELPIP - as well as foundational Math and Science. I particularly enjoy discussing the logic of Grammar and the practical application of scientific principles. I prefer to move away from traditional, rigid lecturing, choosing instead to focus on interactive problem-solving that helps students anticipate challenges before they arise.
  • Q 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you

My parents were my first and most enduring role models; their ability to apply scientific principles to everyday life taught me the value of practical logic. This foundation was strengthened by my teachers, whose talent for simplifying complex concepts through reasoning and sound logic has left a lasting impact on how I approach learning today."
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

I believe The Qualities of an effective and appreciated Tutor
    • Adaptability: Tailoring the "learning language" to fit a student’s specific needs - be it visual, auditory, or kinaesthetic - rather than sticking to a rigid lesson plan.
    • Patience & Empathy: Having the composure to re-explain concepts and the emotional intelligence to pivot from content to confidence-building when a student feels overwhelmed.
    • Subject Mastery: Possessing a deep understanding of the "why" behind the "how," allowing for the simplification of complex ideas and real-world application.
    • Active Listening: Treating tutoring as a dialogue to identify the "missing links" in a student's logic and address the root cause of misunderstandings.
    • Mentorship: Acting as a coach who sets realistic milestones and fosters a growth mindset, encouraging students to tackle challenges independently.
  • Q 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

During my own school days, I was an average student who frequently struggled with the complexities of Math and Science. While I was fortunate to have supportive mentors, I noticed many of my peers falling behind simply because the 'one-size-fits-all' approach didn't resonate with them. These early observations, coupled with 15 years of teaching experience, solidified my core philosophy: education cannot be served as a uniform dish.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or are still facing in your subject?

The primary challenge I face isn't the subject matter itself, but the 'overburdening' of students in today’s hyper-competitive environment. Many children are pushed to master vast curricula in unrealistic timeframes, leading to cognitive exhaustion rather than expertise. This creates a significant 'expectation gap' where a parent’s ambitions may not align with their child’s current developmental stage or capabilities.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

I am passionate about the art of sharing knowledge. As a creative person, I find beauty and innovation in every interaction, particularly with younger learners who see the world without limits. I chose teaching because it allows me to be surrounded by that natural curiosity every day. Helping a student master a new skill is where I find my 'peace of mind' and my greatest professional fulfilment.
  • 8) What makes you a Superteacher (besides answering these interview questions)?

What truly makes me a 'Super Teacher' is the cycle of trust I build with my students. Seeing their eagerness to share not just their achievements, but also their challenges, tells me I have created a safe, effective learning environment. Their expectation that I can help them resolve a problem doesn’t just motivate me - it deepens my commitment. For me, that impact is visible in the trust my students place in me and the smiles that follow a resolved challenge. Their satisfaction is my primary KPI. That sense of accountability - knowing they look to me for clarity in English, Math, or Science - is what transforms my job into a passionate commitment. “Ultimately, my success is measured by my students' mental satisfaction and the confidence they gain under my guidance.
