About Louise

Hi, I’m a native Mandarin speaker from Malaysia, based in South East London, with over 20 years of experience living in the UK. Having grown up in a multicultural environment, I speak Mandarin, Cantonese, Hakka, Hokkien and Bahasa Malaysia, and a bit of Spanish. This has given me a genuine appreciation of different cultures, languages and learning experiences.

I teach Mandarin to children and non-Chinese speakers and run informal Chinese cultural workshops. I believe that understanding the cultural context, practical application and individual learning needs is essential to making real progress.

My professional background is in interior design, and I have been tutoring adults and GCSE students for Art and design subjects (SketchUp, Layout, Autocad) for more than 10 years alongside my small freelance Interior Design Business.

About the lesson

I teach Mandarin to children and non-Chinese speakers and run informal Chinese cultural workshops. I believe that understanding the cultural context, practical application and individual learning needs is essential to making real progress.
I work with learners of different ages, backgrounds and abilities, from young children discovering a new language to adults developing professional skills. Everyone learns differently, so I adapt my teaching methods, pace and materials to suit each individual. My lessons are personalised, practical and engaging, creating a supportive environment where learners feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas and learning through experience.
