About Kaleena

I've been tutoring for 3 years, and have taught at the college level for 7 years! I have tutored hundreds of students from all over the world. My students have aced the SAT/ACT and received scores much higher than they could have imagined. These scores helped them get into some of their top choices for college!

About the lesson

My tutoring style is based on the needs and desires of the students. I find it important to first figure out the learning style of the student and applying multiple styles of learning to our sessions. This may involve reading, listening, watching, and hands on learning. In some cases, using one style of learning may not work or be appropriate for the student. Therefore, by utilizing multiple learning styles, we are ensuring a stronger understanding of concepts.

I use a process-approach to learning. I typically will first teach the student, followed by working together and discussing what we are doing. Then, I will have the student attempt to complete materials with some/minimal guidance. The last step is to allow the student to complete the work on their own with no help from me, in which I check their work at the end. Additionally, I have the student explain the process/steps (how/what they are doing) as they complete their work. This helps reiterate the concepts discussed, ensures the student truly understands the material, and also enables the student to double-check their work.

I find that if you can explain what you are doing and why, it shows complete and better understanding of materials.
