I am a software developer as per the profession but I have a huge wild interest in photography.
I take my camera and roam around just to get the perfect shot.
Sometimes I go outside the city just to take some beautiful snap of animals and other subjects

I go with basic. I feel understanding the basics of photography is most important. I don't believe having a good camera makes you a good photographer. You need to have a vision. You need to understand the subject. You should have good control of the camera and then you will quit that "A" mode and switch to "M" mode for an interesting photography.
