About Gabriel

Hello, I am a second year History and International Relations student at Exeter University. I have extensive experience working with young people in both academics and on sports courses so I know how to engage them in their learning. At school I ran a specialist group aimed at the A-grade historians, building on their skills to push them to the A* level. This teaching style revolved around high-level planning of essays, group debate and then timed essays. As well helping students already comfortable with the skills and content, I also spent a year giving one-on-one tutoring to a classmate who struggled with the content. For this student I used a more content heavy approach, using and testing their content knowledge, to ensure that they had the material to achieve the grade that they desired. I personally struggled in my early years at secondary school, as a dyslexic - but by developing my techniques and with hard work I managed to achieve very good grades. Gabriel tutored me A-Level history weekly in 2019-20. His excellent communication skills and teaching methods meant that I could far better organise and retain all the information I was required to learn. Gabriel’s main strength in my opinion was his patience as I often struggled with retention of information and he was excellent at trying different ways for me to learn.
