About Luke
Luke Tomlinson is a London based professional musician, drummer, band leader and educator. Since graduating in 2019 from the Royal Academy of Music with a First Class Honours Degree, Luke has begun to firmly establish himself as one of the most in demand young musicians in London, performing regularly at some of the most prestigious venues in the UK. Such venues include Royal Festival Hall, Barbican, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Jazz Café Camden as well as a number of performances on BBC Radio 2 and Radio 3. Luke currently plays regularly with internationally renown Jazz artists such as Alexander Bone (BBC Young Jazz Musician), Claire Martin OBE, Emma Smith (Jazz Now - BBC Radio 3), Ray Gelato (Sir Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams and HM The Queen) and Clare Teal (BBC Radio 2). Alongside his Jazz career, Luke also has a strong foothold in the Pop industry, performing with NYM (Paloma Faith), Caleb Hawley (Vulfpeck) and Rory Simmons (Jamie Cullum, Paolo Nutini, The 1975). Luke now also passes on his extensive skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to budding musicians, teaching privately and via various institutions including the Royal Academy of Music and King’s College London.

The lessons are designed to cover all aspects of Jazz drumming for all ages and levels. From the core fundamentals and building blocks for beginners, to honing skills and shaping a unique sound for the more advanced drummer.
Lessons will be predominantly practical, offering bespoke content and structure for each student. I believe the best way for a student to learn is by doing.
