About Erick
I am licensed to teach Spanish and English as a New Language and have seven years of classroom experience. I taught Spanish for four years and have spent the past three years teaching English learners at the high-school level. I also teach adult English learners and have experience supporting students with a wide range of language backgrounds, proficiency levels, academic needs, and personal goals.
I am fluent in English and Spanish and previously worked as a bilingual communication specialist, helping Spanish-speaking families communicate effectively with schools. My tutoring experience began when I was a high-school senior and has included community-based volunteer tutoring, private tutoring, one-on-one instruction, small-group support, and coordinating after-school tutoring for English learners.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts with majors in Psychology and Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language, as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching in Special Education: Mild Intervention. My combined background in language education, psychology, and special education helps me provide patient, structured, and individualized support to teenagers and adults learning English.

Every lesson begins with your goals. Whether you want to communicate more confidently, strengthen your grammar and vocabulary, improve your reading and writing, succeed in school, or use English more effectively in everyday life and the workplace, I will build instruction around what you need most.
Lessons combine meaningful conversation, clear explanations, guided practice, and real-world materials. We may work on speaking, listening, pronunciation, reading, writing, or academic language depending on your needs. I provide specific feedback while creating a supportive environment where mistakes are treated as a natural part of learning.
I am fluent in English and Spanish, so I can use Spanish strategically to clarify difficult concepts for Spanish-speaking learners while gradually increasing the amount of English used during instruction.
My background in psychology and special education allows me to break challenging material into manageable steps, provide additional structure, and adjust the pace and level of support. Each lesson concludes with specific feedback and a clear next step.
