Experienced High school mathematics teacher for Cambridge assessments and AP mathematics
I have extensive experience teaching AP Math ( AB level )Cambridge and Edexcel O Level and A Level mathematics, to students of different nationalities in an International setup, with my students consistently achieving impressive grades ranging from A* to B. My expertise lies in making mathematics accessible to every student, helping them build confidence throughout their learning journey
I begin by assessing each student’s strengths and weaknesses in mathematics. Based on this assessment, I create personalized learning plans that target specific areas of difficulty, ensuring that each student receives tailored support. Alternately we can start with what are the students requirements and tailor the learning path accordingly.
I focus on breaking down complex problems into manageable steps and celebrating their progress. Making mistakes is a natural part of the learning process and I encourage a growth mindset.
A class may consist of most or all of the below mentioned stages.
- Clearly outline the learning objectives for the session, so students know what to expect and what they should aim to achieve by the end of the class.
Instruction (15-20 minutes):
- Present new concepts through a combination of lectures, presentations, or demonstrations.
- Use visual aids, such as slides or videos, to enhance understanding.
- Encourage questions and interaction to clarify concepts.
Guided Practice (15-20 minutes):
- Provide students with opportunities to practice new skills with guidance.
- Work through example problems together, allowing students to contribute and ask questions.
Independent Practice (15-20 minutes):
- Assign individual activities that allow students to apply what they’ve learned.
- This could include problem sets, quizzes.
Feedback and Discussion (10-15 minutes):
- Review the independent practice, providing feedback and addressing any common challenges or misconceptions.
Conclusion and Recap:
- Summarize the key points of the lesson and reiterate the learning objectives.
This structure can be adjusted based on the specific needs of the students and the subject matter, but it provides a comprehensive framework for effective online learning.
