About Olga

I have 7 years experienced as a private tutor back in Spain, where I taught maths and English above all, from primary school to A levels. Once I came here I decided to change and teach Spanish instead, so I´ve been working as a Spanish tutor for a few months now, involving begginers and intermediate levels so far, always trying to create a calm and warm environment that helps you learning this beautiful language.

Why did I change? you might wonder. Well first of all because I understand the challenge that learning a new language can implies, second because I love my mother tongue and the opportunity of making it more available for others is exciting!, and third, because I love teaching and see the development of the person I´m working close with, I find it rewarding and challenging.

About the lesson

Hello everybody! I´ll tell you a bit about myself so you feel more comfortable if we start this journey :)
My name is Olga, I´m from Spain and arrived to Sheffield two years ago. During this time, besides of continue developing myself as a psychologist and among other jobs, I decided to continue developing myself as a tutor too.

How the classes would look like?
I must say you need to have in account that every student-tutor dynamic is different, so the classes would never be exactly the same since I believe in an individual approach.
But, generally speaking, they would involve a review of the exercises/learning of the last day, the review of the tasks from home and a new topic to learn. Sometimes would be more focused on grammar, others in reading, speaking etc. That dynamic is the part that changes and it´d be flexible depending of the student.
The first and in some cases second class would be a bit different since we would need to know each other a bit better. Between them both I would ask you about your reasons for learning Spanish and the goals you want to achieve, so I can customize the classes. I´d also like to know which aspects would you like to focused on more (grammar, reading, written/oral comprehension etc.) and test your level.
Once we have that we can start this journey!

Of course I believe in the importance of communication and feeling comfortable, if for any reasons any of us feel we´re not the best option for helping each other we can stop the classes at any time. If you´d like to stop them once we´ve been learning for months (maybe economics reasons or moving jobs etc.), of course is not problem at all but It would be great if you let me know 2 weeks in advance or so, so I can plann ahead.
