About Hannah

I have been an English and phonics tutor since 2015 doing face to face work in and around Lewisham, Tower Hamlets and Hackney. I worked primarily with Bangladeshi families who had children who needed to improve their English, phonics, reading and writing in KS1 and KS2.

Since graduating Queen Mary University, I have worked in schools as a Teaching Assistant, supporting the teacher and having my own small groups for English and Maths. I have 2 years experience in mainstream schools aiding and running small groups helping them to prepare for SATS and 11 plus exams.

My most recent role within a school was as a Specialist Learning Assistant, I ran interventions in English, maths and phonics for smaller groups of children who needed a push to help them with their SATS in KS1 and KS2.

I have a broad experience of GCSE and Functional skills revision and preparation. I helped young people at a Pupil Referral Unit prepare their GCSEs. When I worked at an agricultural college, I helped young people with learning difficulties prepare for GCSE and Functional skills exams.

I have been tutoring online for about 2 years, after building a profile on Titanium Tutors and through word of mouth. Online I have been working with an 18 year old girl, helping her to prepare for her PRE U Cambridge entry level English exam. I have also been tutoring a boy online with mild autism and ADHD, helping him with his English and reasoning 11 plus exams, so that he can go to Grammar school. I use my Aut Play Therapy training to help me engage and work with children on the Autism Spectrum.

I also have experience tutoring very young children aged 3 to 5 online. Using my Sounds Write Phonics training, I help them to prepare or improve their phonics, reading and writing at EYFS level. Using Sounds Write has also worked well with children who have gaps in their knowledge in Years 1 to 5.

About the lesson

I provide tailor made lessons to fit the needs of my students, whatever age! So you will be feeling confident and fluent in no time!

My teaching style is very engaging and fun. I know through my Play Therapy training that more light sensors engage in the brain when a child or adult is having fun so therefore knowledge, focus and retention increases.

I am very professional, organised and I make sure that my students do not fret or become anxious about any upcoming exams.

I follow the structure of the National Curriculum as well making sure that there is ample time to experience and have exam practice. I assess and tailor each lesson to fit the interests, needs and desired outcomes of my students and their parents.

In your bespoke English Lesson, you will use a range of engaging tools such as : news articles, games, role play, film & tv shows to enhance and develop your skills.
