About Enilda

I am originally from the Dominican Republic and I have been in Halifax, NS for 6 years. I LOVE languages and attended a bilingual (English/Spanish) school for 15 years (Canadian Language Benchmark 10).

I have a major in Advertising Communication and have spent the last 10 years working in the printing and marketing industries as a copywriter, designer, video editor and printer. I’ve been formally educated in print production, which requires pristine proofreading abilities, and I worked for years as a customer service quality analyst, which demands strong active listening skills, both of which are essential to understand the nuances of language and its uses.

Spanish is a beautiful language and I would love to help you become proficient!

Whether you’re looking to learn a few phrases for your upcoming vacation down South, or to engage in lighthearted conversation with a side of cultural exchange and pop culture references, here’s how I can help you:

- Spanish for formal settings
- Useful phrases for everyday Spanish
️- Conversations Over Coffee, where we spill the tea and talk about our day… in Spanish, with a cup of coffee!
️- Text or email conversations for better written Spanish
- Tailored classes based on your areas of improvement
- Vocabulary expansion

So, what’s the most logical and rewarding way to learn Spanish? My approach is simple:

- Understand the language and sentence structure
- Learn basic regular verbs to demonstrate action
- Learn adverbs to modify verbs and adjectives
- Learn nouns to name things
- Learn adjectives to describe nouns
- Grow your vocabulary and practice pronunciation for increased fluency with Conversations Over Coffee, songs, movies, books and more
- Practice written Spanish in your preferred form of communication (text, email, blogging, journaling, translating your favourite songs) for me to review and provide feedback

This will be done in bite-sized lessons that feel like small wins, kind of like the Snowball Method of language learning!

Depending on your needs and commitment level, we will do knowledge checks, vocab quizzes, spelling challenges, Spanish movies, assigned reading and writing assignments.
