About Coco

As a native Chinese speaker currently studying at LSE with an A* in A-Level Chinese, I design learner-centered lessons tailored for international students and A-Level Chinese candidates.

• Bilingual scaffolding: I use clear, simple English to explain tricky Chinese grammar, tones and character rules, eliminating confusion caused by differences between English and Chinese logic. I gradually reduce English use as students progress.

• Scenario-based immersion: Lessons revolve around realistic situations: UK campus life, daily social chats, A-Level oral exams and HSK practice. I encourage constant speaking to build confidence and reduce the fear of making mistakes.

• Gentle, targeted error correction: I never interrupt students mid-speech. I collect all pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar errors during practice, then go over them with targeted mini-exercises after speaking activities.

• Balanced practical & exam-focused training: I combine authentic daily conversational Chinese with systematic exam skills for A-Level Chinese and HSK, covering essay writing, oral presentations and reading comprehension.

• Light, useful homework: Assignments are practical and low-burden, such as short voice recordings, 100-word journals and role-play scripts, instead of repetitive character copying.

About the lesson

1. My teaching methods & techniques 教学方法与技巧

I combine communicative language teaching with targeted exam/ daily practice, tailored for overseas students:

1. Situational Immersion：I build real-life scenarios (shopping, campus communication, job interview, daily chat) instead of rigid textbook recitation. Students speak Chinese from the first class to reduce speaking anxiety.

2. Dual-language Scaffolding：I use simple English as a bridge for beginners, gradually cut down English use as learners progress; explain grammar with intuitive comparisons between Chinese and their mother tongue to avoid confusion.

3. Multisensory Tools：I use flashcards, short Chinese drama clips, daily vlogs, and writing worksheets. Vocabulary & characters are linked to pictures and stories, not rote memorization.

4. Error-focused Feedback：I do not interrupt students mid-speech. I record mistakes, summarize them after practice, and design targeted mini-exercises to fix repeated errors.

5. Customized Homework：Light, practical assignments: short voice recordings, 100-character journal, or simple dialogue role-plays, no heavy repetitive copying.
