• Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

  My interest in computer teaching, particularly with Excel and MS Office, began during my school years. I was fascinated by how these tools could simplify tasks and boost productivity. This fascination led me to pursue in-depth education in various computer applications. Over 10 years of professional experience, including 5 years internationally, provided me with diverse insights into teaching different learner groups. I specialized in MS tools due to their widespread use and versatility in both personal and professional contexts. Through personalized projects, I honed my skills in areas like VBA Macros scripting, data analysis in Excel, and creating visually appealing presentations. Teaching became a passion as I enjoyed simplifying complex concepts for my students. Continuous learning is crucial in this field to stay updated with the latest features and advancements. Overall, my journey has been driven by early interest, professional growth, personal projects, and a deep passion for empowering others with valuable skills.

• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

  My motivation to teach computer applications like Excel and MS Office stems from a deep passion for technology and its practical applications. Inspiring mentors and teachers played a significant role in shaping my desire to share knowledge. I love empowering others by equipping them with skills that can open new opportunities and enhance their careers. Seeing students grow in confidence and succeed is incredibly rewarding. Teaching also offers continuous learning and personal growth for me. Real-world applications of these tools demonstrate their invaluable importance in various settings. My global teaching experience has enriched my approach, making it more adaptable and inclusive. Positive feedback and success stories from students further fuel my motivation.   If I had to think of a role model for my work, I would choose Sal Khan, the founder of Khan Academy. Sal Khan's dedication to accessible education and his innovative use of technology to reach millions of learners worldwide is truly inspiring. He has demonstrated how powerful and transformative education can be when it is made accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or location. His approach to breaking down complex subjects into easy-to-understand lessons aligns with my own teaching philosophy. Sal Khan’s commitment to lifelong learning and his impact on global education motivates me to continue empowering others through teaching and technology.

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  Outside of teaching, I have several hobbies that keep me engaged and balanced. I love traveling, exploring new places, and learning about different cultures. Reading both fiction and non-fiction helps me relax and expand my knowledge. Hiking in nature keeps me active and clears my mind. I also enjoy cooking and experimenting with new recipes for friends and family, which is a creative outlet. Photography allows me to capture moments and express my creativity. Practicing yoga and meditation helps me maintain physical and mental well-being. Additionally, I find fulfillment in volunteering for local causes and giving back to the community. These hobbies provide a balance to my professional life and keep me motivated and well-rounded.

• Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

  Yes, I have an anecdote from my professional life that stands out. A few years ago, I was teaching an advanced Excel course to a group of professionals. One student, who was initially very quiet and seemed to struggle with the material, caught my attention. She was diligent but clearly intimidated by the complexity of the functions and data analysis techniques we were covering.
  
  During a break, I approached her and offered some one-on-one time to go over any specific issues she was facing. She admitted that she felt overwhelmed and was afraid of falling behind. We spent extra sessions together, focusing on her areas of difficulty and breaking down complex concepts into simpler, more manageable parts.
  
  As the course progressed, her confidence grew noticeably. She started asking questions during class and even helping her peers with difficult problems. By the end of the course, she had transformed from a hesitant learner into one of the most proficient users of Excel in the group.
  
  A few months later, she contacted me to share that she had received a promotion at work, largely due to her improved Excel skills and newfound confidence in handling data. Hearing this was incredibly rewarding and reaffirmed my passion for teaching. It reminded me that sometimes, a bit of extra support and encouragement can make a significant difference in a student's life and career.
