About Rikki
Hi, I’m Rikki! I’m a native Mandarin speaker, fluent in both Mandarin and English, and I hold a Level 2 Mandarin Proficiency Certificate.
I have previous experience working as a part-time language teacher and enjoy helping people learn Mandarin in a relaxed, practical and encouraging way.
One of the reasons I want to teach is that I genuinely enjoy sharing the Chinese language and culture with people from different backgrounds. I believe learning a language is not just about vocabulary and grammar — it’s also a way to understand the culture, everyday life and ways of thinking behind it.
I’m originally from China and now live in Australia, so I’m familiar with both Chinese and English-speaking environments. I’m patient, friendly and easy-going, and I’m always happy to explain things clearly in English when needed.
Outside of teaching, I’m a professional illustrator and visual designer with over 8 years of experience. I’m naturally creative and enjoy bringing that creativity into the way I communicate and teach.
Whether you’re learning Mandarin for conversation, travel, work, Chinese culture or simply for fun, I’d love to help you become more confident using Chinese while also discovering more about China and its culture.

My lessons are friendly, relaxed and tailored to each student’s needs and learning goals. I want students to feel comfortable speaking Mandarin, even if they are complete beginners.
I focus on practical Mandarin, pronunciation, everyday conversation, vocabulary, reading and writing. Lessons can be adapted depending on your level, interests and goals.
For adults, I can focus more on real-life conversation and useful Mandarin that you can actually use in everyday situations.
All levels are welcome, especially beginners. My goal is to make learning Chinese enjoyable, practical and encouraging.
