About Karlie
As a language enthusiast with 6 years of London experience, I'm excited to leverage my passion for education and collaboration in the teaching profession. While my hobbies lie in indie music, bass playing, and community events, they've instilled in me a creative and collaborative approach to learning.
For 2 years, I mentored 5 high school students in English grammar and conversation. One student, initially shy and hesitant to speak, gained confidence and actively participated in class discussions after just a few months. Overall, they saw an average grade improvement of 10% along with an increased willingness to practice English both in and outside of class. These results solidified my passion for fostering language acquisition and helping students develop a genuine love for learning.
I believe in creating engaging and interactive learning environments that foster curiosity and self-discovery.

My teaching methodology focuses on achieving student's personal goals. I integrate aspects of Chinese culture into my lessons and my lessons prioritise speaking and listening activities over grammar drills. In my lessons, I give you more immersive environment for you to use Chinese in meaningful contexts, regardless of your proficiency level. More importantly, my classes are designed to help you gain confidence in using your existing Mandarin in normal conversational topics from the lastest TV show, movies to your go to comfort food. These are the things that are essential for improving vocabulary, but again for improve your confidence.
