About LUIGI

I was born in Sicily, Italy, where I completed my studies through my university degree and Ph.D. in Biology. I moved to the United States at the age of 28, where I founded two biotechnology companies and published 47 scientific papers, along with numerous patents. Now that I am semi-retired, I teach Italian, review grant applications for the National Institutes of Health, play the drums, and work on various home renovation and improvement projects.

About the lesson

I am a native Italian speaker teaching students worldwide in English. My lessons go beyond grammar and vocabulary to include Italian culture as a whole—including cooking. Learning Italian means learning how Italians think, act, and express themselves. My teaching style is light, informal, and engaging, using songs, articles, and videos to make learning enjoyable.

He has been fantastic to work with so far. He is very knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging. He has met us where we are in our knowledge and is always well prepared with lessons that challenge us and help us progress. He goes above and beyond by sending resources and information on points we have questions about during our lessons.
He has prepared us well for our Italy trip and we look forward to picking back up with him when we return.

Online Lessons: $33 per hour

In-Person Lessons (Local): $38 per hour, hosted at the Ludington Library located at 5 S. Bryn Mawr Ave, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010.

In-Person Lessons (Travel): $38 per hour + $45 travel fee per session.
Travel radius is capped at 20 miles max (one way) from Bryn Mawr.
