About the lesson

I use a process-based approach to writing: brainstorming → outlining → drafting → revising → polishing, so students learn writing as a repeatable skill, not a one-shot task.
I meet each student at their current level and build from there — assessing their strengths and gaps in grammar, structure, and voice before setting goals.
I use a mix of modeling (showing examples of strong writing), guided practice (working through a piece together), and independent practice (students writing on their own with feedback).
I give specific, actionable feedback rather than vague praise or criticism — pointing to exact sentences or structural choices and explaining why they work or don't.
I adapt my approach by age and skill level: younger students focus on sentence structure and organization; older students work on argumentation, style, and voice.
