About Martin
I have been playing drums and percussion for over 20 years, and they have always been the most important instruments in the mix when I listen to music.
After high school, I enrolled in the nearest music degree program, which happened to focus on classical music. I saw strong potential in classical music for developing innovative approaches to drum kit performance.
This path led me to create highly interactive performances combining percussion and electronics, as part of a Doctorate in Music Performance, which I obtained in 2025.
I regularly perform with my original band, Les Moontunes, and have been involved in various musical projects spanning jazz, metal, contemporary, and experimental music. All of these genres are deeply meaningful to me as a drummer and percussionist.

I know how important it is to have a great teacher, and also to study with a variety of teachers in order to develop your own sound throughout a lifetime of growth on these instruments.
During my studies, I have worked with many teachers in drums and percussion, including Fabrice Marandola, John Hollenbeck, Shauh Mativetsky, Ben Reimer, and Michel Deschênes. I have also taken lessons with Matt Garstka, Yonni Madar, and Dave Elitch.
The first step in building a lesson plan is getting a clear sense of what you would like to improve. Whether you want to become a well-rounded, versatile player or develop skills specific to a particular genre, my lessons are designed to help you reach your goals.

Martin was recommended to me by my classical percussion teacher as someone who’d be able to teach me drum kit. I’m very grateful to have met him. He is extremely knowledgeable, generous with his time, and genuinely a very positive energy to be around. I’ve learned a lot from our time together and still consult him for questions for all things rhythm and kit related. I also know he’s very capable and driven with the electronic/contemporary side of music - creating his own work by winning grants from the Government of Canada. Could not say enough nice things about Dr Daigle.
