About Cormac

I am a qualified teacher and theatre and film writer with a degree in theatre, currently working as a professional theatre director, and English teacher. My background gives me a strong understanding of communication, expression, and the challenges learners face when developing confidence in a second language. I know how demanding language learning can be, but I also understand the impact it has when a student begins to communicate with clarity and confidence. I speak Spsanish, French and a little of 2 or 3 other languages

My teaching approach is flexible, student-centred, and rooted in engagement. I see my students as active participants in their learning, and I aim to guide them in building their English skills in a way that is both practical and enjoyable. Rather than simply delivering lessons, I work collaboratively with students to help them grow in confidence, fluency, and understanding.

With years of teaching experience and as an English tutor, I have worked with a range of ages and abilities. My background in drama teaching allows me to bring creativity, energy, and real-world context into the classroom, making lessons more interactive and memorable.

I have worked internationally in the UAE, USA, and Ireland, which has given me valuable cultural awareness and adaptability in different learning environments. I speak three languages and have travelled to six continents, experiences that continue to shape my perspective as both a teacher and communicator. Let's get started!!!

About the lesson

I use the skills I’ve developed as a professional theatre writer to help students improve their English in a creative, engaging way. Lessons are collaborative and student-led, focusing on your personal goals while using real-life themes and ideas to spark conversation, overcome hesitation, and build confidence. These won't just be listening to me explain- you'll find yourself acting as new characters to help your learning, perfectly tailored to children or adults.

As a qualified and practicing school teacher, I bring experience in building strong relationships with students and guiding their progress. I aim to create a relaxed, supportive environment where you have ownership of your learning, can express yourself freely, and enjoy the process of developing your language skills. My approach combines creativity, practical learning, and encouragement, making each lesson both effective and enjoyable.
