About Annabel
I have experience with tutoring students in my area at home and have always had positive feedback. On top of this, I work at a primary school whenever I am back from university so although this age group is younger than GCSE level, I do have experience with working with children and have gained many transferable skills such as patience, being approachable and reliable and having clear communication skills.
In terms of my own qualifications, I have a grade 8 in English Literature and a grade 6 in English Language with a distinction in the spoken language exam. Something I feel as though it makes me stand out from others is that I am also able to provide tips on what to avoid in exam situations, specifically for people who can feel nervous or stressed out when it comes to exams. These sort of tips coming from a student myself is what I feel as though has really helped my students previously to reach those top grades (7-9s). Whilst I have been teaching others, it has only enriched my own knowledge of the subject and has reaffirmed my passion for English. I genuinely enjoy this subject and will support your child in the best way to reach their goals.

My lessons are aimed at English GCSE students. I am very knowledgable in both literature and language, specifically the creative writing and the spoken language part for English lang and the in depth analysis of texts for English lit.
For my teaching techniques, I tailor the lessons to each student to best suit them. I would start by identifying the main areas in which the student struggles with. Following on from this, we would break down each lesson by picking one of those areas, then ask the student to demonstrate the knowledge they have, provide my own materials and knowledge to strengthen theirs and then end the session with materials and tips to focus on until the next lesson. I also have many revision tips for exams. A typical lesson would be an hour to an hour and a half however, if there was an important exam or if the student felt as though they wanted a longer session I would be happy to extend this.
