About Sophie
I have graduated with LLB Law from the University of Sheffield in 2025 and am currently completing my LLM Masters of Law and sitting the solicitors qualifying exams at the University of Law in London. I studied Maths, History and Sociology at A-Level but chose to go into Law at university due to my interest in the subject and career desires.
I have over 4 years of tutoring experience, in Maths, History and Sociology. I love tutoring as I love watching students grow in confidence and improve in their subjects, it is amazing to see them say 'Oh this is easy' or 'I know how to do this' when it used to be a topic they really struggled with.

I tutor using a student-led approach and will cover the topics that students need help with in the best way for them. Whether this is continuously repeating one type of question until it is mastered or having variety throughout a lesson and spacing the learning for a topic, I will use whatever method suits the student's learning style the best, and this will be discussed in the first lesson.
In the first lesson, I will review the exam specification topics and colour-code them based on the student's confidence. Based on this, we will focus on the topics that need the most support. At the end of each lesson, we will review this and the plan for the next session, taking into account what they are covering at school and any upcoming assessments.
I believe that exam questions are one of the most useful tools, and after covering a topic's content, going over this and exam techniques will be my priority as I know from experience the importance of practising questions. This is also a good tool for measuring progress, but confidence in a topic is also important, and a student has to believe they have the ability to complete a topic themselves to succeed in it; encouraging this confidence and self-belief is one of my priorities as a tutor as I have seen the impact that is has.
