About Lottie

With over 200 hours of completed tuition and a track record of achieving 100% success in improving grades and securing desired school placements, I am well-equipped to assist and support your child in realising their potential across a wide range of subjects. Tutoring brings me great satisfaction, particularly when I am able to help students overcome challenging concepts and witness their understanding transform. Throughout my own educational journey, from my childhood to my current university studies, I have encountered situations where certain concepts didn't quite click until an alternative explanation or perspective was provided, revealing the key to comprehension. This understanding drives me to empower my students as they navigate through life's challenges.

I have had the opportunity to tutor numerous students, ranging from 7 to 18 years old, and this experience has provided me with valuable insights. I possess the skills to plan engaging sessions, develop effective learning strategies, and establish strong rapport, even in online tutoring environments. Additionally, my extensive background in the hospitality industry, spanning over six years, has nurtured my innate ability to connect with people of all age groups with confidence and ease. This is exemplified by my role as a social secretary for the university's women's netball club, where I successfully demonstrate my planning and social skills, essential for such a position. Furthermore, I have worked in multiple schools, catering to diverse age groups in both primary and preschool settings, particularly in afterschool and breakfast clubs. In these roles, I prioritise the well-being and safety of the children while engaging them in meaningful activities.

About the lesson

Lessons are structured to last for 55 minutes. I possess the necessary qualifications and have accumulated over 200 hours of teaching experience with students ranging in age from 7 to 18. I am proficient in instructing students of all abilities and have specialised knowledge in catering to the needs of those with special requirements. Throughout my career, I have successfully guided numerous students who achieved top results in their respective classes.

Through my experience, I have discovered that a structured approach consisting of introducing concepts, facilitating questions, and reviewing the material has proven effective in promoting both understanding and knowledge retention. Questioning is central to my teaching sessions, as it stimulates learning, encourages critical thinking, ignites the imagination, and provides students with frameworks they can apply outside our lessons. I establish a judge-free environment where questioning is welcomed and encouraged.

To assess progress, I administer "review tests" at the beginning of each new session and assign work to be completed outside of our scheduled meetings. These review tests serve to solidify knowledge and ensure that my students reach their full potential. Furthermore, I prioritise the emotional well-being of my students and believe that providing pastoral care alongside their education is crucial. This enables me to understand their unique needs and learning styles, ultimately enhancing their engagement and overall learning experience.
