About Jordon

I am an actor and director who trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. (RADA) I graduated with hons in BA Acting. Since graduating, I have worked across screen and theatre, for the BBC, HBO, ITV, The Park Theatre, The Globe and many more. I have also directed many plays across London and my own short films. I now tutor students in both performance, verse and prose and public speaking. I have been tutoring both children and teenagers for many years now, and have found the skills I learnt as an actor are incredibly helpful with developing confidence and communication across the board. So whether your child wants to go into performing arts or simply work on public speaking for school, LAMDA is the perfect way forwards. I specialise in one-to-one tutoring and have students from ages 4-19

About the lesson

Having completed all the LAMDA examinations myself, and also as a graduate from RADA drama school, I understand what it's like to take the exams. This allows me to support each child, so that they achieve great results while also enjoying their lessons. What to expect: I use a lot of techniques taught to me by award-winning vocal coaches and movement directors. Vocal and Physical warm-up: We start with a series of vocal and physical exercises, tailored to your child. These will include tongue twisters, word games, modulation and emphasis. This allows the child to relax and we can work on any sounds they have trouble with in a stress-free and playful way! Intro 1, 2 and 3- These lessons are for ages 4 to 7 They are a fun introduction to performance through poetry. The exams themselves are very relaxed and my children have received 100% distinction grades every time. Acting Exams- Entry level to Grade 8 - Ages 8 through 19 I love teaching the Acting exams. We start by selecting the monologues from a collection I have amassed over the last few years teaching. We will choose this piece together, so your child will look forward to performing but it's also a nice challenge to help them grow as a performer. We will then stage the pieces and continue to work on honing the performance and revising the knowledge questions for the grade until we think they are ready to take their exam. The medal grade 6, 7 and 8 - These grades are equivalent to GCSEs and carry UCAS points. This means they usually require a lot more preparation time as they require more complex speeches and incredibly detailed knowledge answers. They are very rewarding to achieve. Verse and Prose - Entry level to Grade 8 These exams are a wonderful accompaniment to the Acting grades. The focus is on poetry and extracts from novels. They are wonderful for improving diction, articulation and stretching a child's vocabulary and knowledge of rhythm, which feeds into acting incredibly well, (particularly Shakespeare!) Many of my students alternate between acting and verse and prose exams. Shakespeare level 1, 2 and 3 I really love teaching these exams alongside the acting as they allow the child to focus on classical text in a fun and stress-free way! For level 1 they will be introduced to a short Shakespeare monologue, such as the prologue to Romeo and Juliet and they will learn all about Shakespeare Rhythm Iambic Pentameter. Level 2 is a longer more complex speech and the child will be introduced to Shakespeare's Sonnets. Level 3 is even more advanced with a discussion of staging your own Shakespeare play for a modern audience. Whether your child is drawn to Acting, Verse and Prose, Shakespeare or a mixture of all three. They will work with some wonderful material and grow in confidence as an actor and as themselves!
