About Linda

I trained as an actor at Arts Ed (BA Acting) before training as a director at LAMDA (MA Directing). For the last ten years I have worked as an acting coach and acting tutor and directed at a number of drama schools such as RADA, Arts Ed, ALRA, E15, GFCA and Identity. I also ran foundation and a diploma courses for Birkbeck, University of London and have been a visiting lecturer at a number of university drama departments. I have been a member of the audition panel at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, RADA, Arts Ed and ALRA.

I have directed everything from Greek tragedy, Shakespeare and his contemporaries, restoration comedy to contemporary text and new writing. My experience include directing new writing at the Arcola, Southwark playhouse, The Old Red Lion, Soho Theatre and at the NT. I worked as assistant director on the award winning 5 Guys chillin, at The Globe Theatre as an Educational Practitioner running Shakespeare workshops and at the RSC as an assistant director. I have a PGCE (PCET) and an Enhanced DBS check.

I work from my home in Central London, a space in South London and also online.

ACTING COACHING

Whether you're a complete beginner, a professional actor looking to refine or acquire new skills, a performer returning after a break from the industry or someone who just wants to gain confidence, I can work with you to design an acting program to fit your individual needs. We can focus on specific areas or cover a variety of subjects, including:

* Acting technique
* Movement - Laban/Malmgren movement for actors
* Uta Hagen acting exercises
* Creating and developing a character
* Audition practice
* Text analysis
* Self-tape - I will work with you on interpretation and give feedback
* Scene study - work with a partner on a scene

DRAMA SCHOOL ENTRY AUDITIONS

Preparing for drama school auditions can feel overwhelming, especially when deciding on your speeches. Picking the right text is crucial. They should resonate with you and make you excited to play them. The material should allow us to see who you are! I’ll work collaboratively with you to:

* Help you select a text you connect with
* Analyse text
* Use a variety of tools and strategies
* Create and develop character
* Work organically to serve the text
* Use yourself more creatively
* Develop your artistic voice
* Practic responding to redirection
* Develop working with free-flow

AUDITION PREPARATION

I can assist you in preparing for auditions by:
* Breaking down and analysing the text with you
* Investigating various interpretations of the text to deepen your
understanding
* Working with you expore,create and develop character (s)
* Facilitating character object exercises
