About Gillian

I am a West End actor with almost 20 years teaching experience.

I have been teaching LAMDA for 5 years both privately and in Primary Schools with a 100% pass rate including 80% at Distinction. I have taught at The BRIT School, LMA, Trinity Laban and the Barbara Speake Stage School. I currently lecture BA (Hons) Musical Theatre students at the London College of Music.

Most recently I appeared as Miss Hedge in the West End cast of Everybody's Talking About Jamie and reprised the role when the show transferred to Los Angles for its American Premiere. Other acting work includes the UK Tour of Mamma Mia, The Sound of Music and various regional theatre productions.

As a professional performer I utilise my knowledge of the industry and its developments to enhance technique and the practical application of students skills.

I hold an MA Musical Theatre from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and a BA Theatre from the Guildford School of Acting.

About the lesson

I teach the LAMDA Communication Syllabus which includes: Verse & Prose, Acting and Musical Theatre. As well as being really fun these exams are useful for students wishing to collect extra UCAS points and is a great extra-curricular to have for university applications. If you are looking to improve public speaking, vocabulary and creativity, I can help with clarity, breathing, projection and confidence!

In addition, to putting students forward for LAMDA exams I can also help with drama school preparation, from choosing audition material to getting it performance ready!

Teaching for me is not only a job but a passion and I love to instil in students a desire to learn, to grow through their experiences and delight in their achievements.
