Korean in Leipzig - basic knowledge up to entertainment level (with textbook and material for A1 - A2)

I have been studying Korean with Hyeonu for almost half a year now and I highly recommend him as a teacher. Hyeonu is great at explaining grammar structures in an easy and clear way and he always provides useful examples. He won’t just provide you with information about the Korean language though – you will also learn a lot of interesting aspects about the Korean culture and daily life. Thanks to his clever learning method, I have made a lot of progress in a short time – Hyeonu perfectly adapts the lessons to your knowledge and learning tempo and gives you honest, very useful feedback. From the very first lesson, he will make you talk a lot which is crucial when learning a new language with its pronounciation! The amount of homework is always feasible and you can study more between the lessons if you feel like it. The lessons are held in English but that has not been any problem at all.
Apart from that, Hyeonu is a very kind and patient teacher. You can ask questions via text in between classes and we easily manage to schedule lessons despite my full time job. I had been studying Korean on and off with apps and books for a good while before I decided to get a teacher and it has been one of my best decisions – I really look forward to the lessons every week. If you want a highly competent, fun teacher and lessons you’re going to enjoy, he is your guy!

Er sieht sofort, wo die Schwierigkeiten liegen und hilft bei Problemen mit der Grammatik wie auch beim Sprechen. I'm Steffi (21) and I've been studying korean with Hyeonu as my teacher for about 6 months now. At first I was a bit worried about the lessons being in English. I thought I may not understand explanations regarding grammar, but there is no reason to worry. He explains grammar in an easy and understandable way. His lesson is also extremly well structured and it includes listenning, conversation, grammar and homework (vocabulary and writing).
Besides that he will also tell you fun and interesting facts about Korea and daily life over there. (For example: You will probably decide on how to shorten or form your original name into one that sounds very korean or learn about why there are so many families called "Kim" and "Park" in Korea ^^ )
His lessons are (mostly I think) online and via Skype. Besides the videochat he also shares his screen, takes notes and copy/paste it into the chat so you can revise it later on. In my opinion this works very well.
Last but not least he is a very patient and considerate teacher and a fun companion on this journey.
I highly recommend Hyeonu as a teacher and I hope you're going to enjoy studying korean with him as much as I do. :D

I’m taking online classes with Hyeonu for four months now and I can say it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. His classes are so much more fun and a lot easier than learning by yourself. You will learn a lot of interesting facts about the Korean language and culture.
Hyeonu is a very kind and patient teacher who makes sure that the lessons are fun and you understand everything. At the beginning I was a bit worried because the lessons are only in English, but now I can tell that the language barrier is no problem.
One of the best thing about Hyeonu's class is that you don’t have to pay for any of the learning material.
I can recommend Hyeonu as a teacher for everybody who wants to have fun learning the Korean language!

This is one of the most fantastic online courses I took. Therefore, after taking this Korean courses for more than 3 months, I would like to share my experience and recommend this to everyone here.
First of all, Teacher Mr. Hyeonu is a very nice and passionate person and he has full of good ideas for the course. For example, he will try to figure out the problems during my learning and then provide suitable solutions according to my situation, which is quite significant for my improvement. And that's the real meaning of 1-1 teaching or customized courses.
Secondly, the structure of the course is clear and reasonable, at least for me. This 1-hour course includes words, grammar, text, speaking, and of course sometimes interesting culture points. We never get stuck at a certain point and then stagnate, instead the entire learning process is dynamic, tumbling forward like waves in the ocean of knowledge. That's why as a totally new learner, I never felt boring during the learning but arousing my interest in this language even more.
Last but not the least, Mr. Hyeonu as a Korean native speaker has one more advantage, his English is quite good to offer me a high-quality communication, which may be easily overlooked by others. But I think teaching is like communication that effective and clear expression is obviously important.
Time is limited, but I have tried my hard to recall the three-month course to make a fair evaluation. I hope my thoughts will be helpful to you and always welcome you to will join this Korean learning group since I will keep learning.:) Why not, quite fun and useful.

He is not someone who just wants to get all the teaching stuff done and that's all - he's someone who always have jokes and beautiful stories to tell to make you feel
good and happy.
His way to teach korean is professional but at the same time it is like talking with friends because the atmosphere is very relaxing.
You will hear fantastic anecdotes about life and many things about korean culture. So it is way more than "just learning korean", believe me.
He is super patient (I am VERY forgetful), always understanding and gives me the motivation that I need to keep on learning.

I am very happy that I chose Hyeonu as my Korean teacher. :D He is a very nice person and a great teacher! His teaching is well structured and he explains very good. He is extremely patient and understanding.
He doesn´t only teach me Korean he also tells me a lot of interesting information about South-Korea which makes his lessons even more fun and it also motivates me to study.
I can always ask him anytime if I don´t understand something and he always takes a lot of time to explain it to me through a text message which I really appreciate!
I can talk with him about anything and we exchange a lot of personal experience which makes his lessons very chill and there is no pressure.
All in all he is an amazing teacher and a fun person to learn with!

Hyeonu als mein Koreanischlehrer auszuwählen war eine der besten Entscheidungen meines Lebens. Die Stunden verlaufen sehr sturkturiert und man nimmt viel mit. Neues lernen und altes Wiederholen sind gut abgestimmt, dazu kommt, dass Hyeonu super verständnisvoll ist und einen immer ermutigt. Der Spaß kommt trotzdem nie zu kurz und man tauscht persönliche Erfahrungen aus. Abgesehen davon, dass die Stunden so schon billig sind, machen wir immer mindestens dreißig Minuten länger und das Lernmaterial wird gestellt.
Das einzige, das man bedenken sollte ist, dass die Stunde fast nur auf Englisch stattfindet. Ansonsten bin ich super zufrieden und empfehle jedem Unterricht zu nehmen.

I always wanted to learn Korean the right way but it was hard to find the right teacher , so I decided to try it with Hyeonu! (truly one of the best choices I’ve made in my life !)

At first I didn’t know what to expect from a teacher who you can only see through skype but, oh boy , my expectations were exceeded!

1. He’ll never only just do one hour as it says on the website. I mean there have been times where we almost hit 2:30 hours ( don’t worry you’ll pay the same as it says on the website! So same money , more hours !)

2.The lessons are chill and I’ve learned so much just in this two months ( I see soo much progress , even right after a lesson!)
+Hyeonu is kind and understanding , so you absolutely don’t have to worry about making mistakes!
+He’ll cheer you up and help you with every question you have!
+You will be getting homework and new vocabulary to learn !
+I even learned many things about the Korean culture and history through him , things I didn’t know before and things wich blew my mind!
+ You can talk to Hyeonu about everything! (And yes i mean everything ) that’s why the lessons are so much fun!
+He is flexible and good organized !
+if you have questions or something like that outside of the hours , you can easily text him !


For me , Hyeonu truly is a Superprof!
So if you have trouble to decide wich teacher you want for your korean journey , from the bottom of my heart , CHOOSE HYEONU!!!

Er ist ein absolut vertrauenswürdiger Lehrer, weil er sehr gut erklären kann und man Dinge so schnell versteht. Er nimmt sich Zeit, Fragen zu beantworten und erklärt unklar gebliebende Sachen ausführlich.
Außerdem macht das Lernen Spaß, weil eine lockere Arbeitsatmosphäre herrscht und sein Unterricht einen motiviert, immer weiter zu lernen und besser zu werden.

He is a very good teacher because he explains everything very understandable and detailed. If you ask something he takes his time to explain you until you understand it. Also the sheets are very helpful to continue with the studying at home. His lessons are definitely advising :-)

Hyeonu ist ein wirklich enthusiatischer und vertrauenswürdiger Lehrer, der sich viel Mühe gibt, dass seine Schüler wirklich etwas lernen und dafür auch extra Stunden einlegt (unbezahlt), wenn er merkt, dass es Probleme gibt!

Sehr guter und freundlicher Lehrer, der mit Begeisterung Koreanisch vom ABC beibringt. Das gescannte Material ist sehr gut verständlich und wird ausführlich behandelt. Während der Woche können alle Fragen via Chat durchgegangen werden.
