About Neil
I am a Biology teacher based in Norfolk.
I teach all three sciences up to GCSE and then I teach Biology to A level students and Applied Biology for Btec.
I am also Head of Literacy for the science deaprtment in my school. This requires me to improve the skills of students in regard to extended writing and understanding of scientifc terms which should improve all pupils' grades and aid them in their life after education.
I came into education fairly late in life. I had been a hospitality professional for the previous twenty-five years; running pubs, restaurants and a cinema. I career-changed after seeing my own chikldren enter education, seeing the effect it had on them and remembering it's importance to me.

Lessons will be delivered through Google Classroom unless the student is more comfortable with a different platform.
The sessions will be a mixture of direct learning, minimised as I have no wish to repeat what has been taught at the pupil's school or for the session to become just, 'another' lesson.
I use questioning to assess the student's knowledge and understanding and to plan subsequent lessons and their direction.
I include more formal assessments such as worksheets and quizzes to assess learning.
I have been tutoring for the last three years and during the lockdowns I have become experienced in remote learning. Not just in delivery but being able to both communicate with and assess students.
My classes are for all levels, those transitioning into secondary who may want to be more ready than they or their peers are currently. Years 7-11 who perhaps need more support due to lack of time spent in school due to the pandemic. Revision lessons for Years 11 and 13.
