About Ely
Hi, I'm Ely! I hold an Honours degree in Literature and Creative Writing (with distinction) and am currently pursuing a PhD in the same field. As a passionate and patient teacher, I know every student has unique strengths, so I adapt my approach to suit their individual needs. This involves using a variety of resources—such as videos, podcasts, images, books, poems, and more—to align with each student’s interests and learning style.
I particularly love introducing students to the works of Shakespeare, Jane Austen, poetry and other classics. As a past bookseller, I also have lots of knowledge about books for children and teens and love getting to share these worlds with my students.
I truly believe there’s a perfect book for everyone—it’s just waiting to be discovered! My mission as a tutor is to share my love of reading and help each student find stories that inspire them and spark joy.

I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching methods to suit each individual. I'm experienced in working with students who may struggle or need extra time and support, and I believe building confidence is just as important as mastering the subject itself.
After the first trial lesson, I provide a detailed report outlining each student’s strengths and areas of concern, along with a personalised plan to address them. I create customised materials for every student to ensure the lessons meet their specific needs and provide regular, detailed progress updates along the way.

Perfect! Elly is an amazing person and teacher! In just one hour, Elly was able to identify my son's strengths and weaknesses.
