About ELIA

I am a 22-year-old philosophy postgraduate student at Trinity College Dublin. I was born and grew up in Cremona, a beautiful town in the north of Italy, but I lived in Venice for 3 years for the purpose of attending and completing my bachelor's degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. Since I went to university I have been studying all my exams in English: as a result, I am fluent in speaking, writing, and reading. I am very fond of every aspect of Italian culture, from literature to art, from cinema to history, with a special interest in opera, one of the most powerful means to spread the Italian language all around the world. I have been mentoring for the last three years in many subjects, including Italian, English, history, history of art, and math.

About the lesson

The Italian language might be hard to approach for an English speaker. These languages are fairly different, and handbooks might turn out more misleading than helpful. In my view, conversation and practice are essential to shape a full-fledged understanding of Italian and its structures. My target is to deliver personalized sessions, able to remedy weaknesses and to increase the student's communicative skills. I usually supply 1-hour sessions, but I am available to try different lengths. I am available both virtually and in person (in Dublin). As far as my tutoring experience is concerned, I have been tutoring for three years and the students I helped so far managed to address their shortcomings successfully. I usually work with young learners (12-17) but I am willing to engage with college students or adults looking for conversation opportunities.
