About Kara
Hi, I’m Kara—a dedicated and compassionate tutor with years of hands-on experience supporting early elementary students in reading. I hold a master’s degree in Early Childhood Intervention and currently work full-time in a K–5 school setting, where I provide one-on-one and small group academic support. I bring both strong professional training and a deep passion for helping young learners thrive. I understand that every child learns differently, and I tailor each lesson to meet your child’s unique needs with patience, encouragement, and effective, research-based strategies. Whether your child is developing phonics skills, strengthening comprehension, or building reading confidence, I’m here to guide them with care and consistency. My goal is to help every child feel successful and empowered as a reader.

As a tutor, I, Kara, focus on creating a warm, supportive environment where students feel confident, capable, and excited to grow as readers. My teaching method is rooted in patience, encouragement, and individualized support. I incorporate multisensory strategies, visuals, and hands-on activities to make reading fun and accessible for all learners, especially those with IEP goals or learning differences.
A typical lesson begins with a quick warm-up to build engagement, followed by a targeted reading activity based on the student’s specific needs—such as phonics practice, guided reading for fluency, or comprehension strategies using WH questions. We close each session by reviewing what we learned and celebrating progress, no matter how small.
What sets me apart is my background as a future Early Childhood Intervention Specialist and my current experience working one-on-one with students in K-5. I understand how to break down reading challenges into manageable, empowering steps.
My lessons are designed for early elementary students, especially those who need extra support in building foundational reading skills and confidence.
