About MARINA
I am an undergraduate student at UCL. Before coming over to London I studied and lived in Madrid, Spain, where I was born and raised. Back there I used to live near the Lycee Francais, hence most of my neighbors were international families with kids from various ages and different knowledge of the language. This fact made me become a tutor, without knowing it, from a very young age, by looking after my neighbors or helping them with their homework when their parents were away.
Time passed, and I went to study abroad in Canada. Here is where I had my first real tutoring experience as a volunteer at my school. There I helped the juniors with their regular classwork but also with older students with their language exams. Here is where I realized how much I enjoyed tutoring, how fulfilling it made me feel been capable of helping others with something which seemed so easy for me. And this is what I think makes me good at it. I am a native speaker who loves and enjoys following the process of progression in those I teach.
After living in Canada for two years, I decided to finish my baccalaureate in Spain. Even though these were important years towards my near future and I had a lot of work, I always saved a few hours a week to be able to continue with my tutoring, back with my french students, at a higher level now, with older kids and preparing official examinations. Furthermore, I introduced in my Spanish school the same tutoring structure I had seen in Canada, so that older students could, as part of their CAS program, as volunteers or as professionals, help those in the grades below. This initiative had a warm welcome, by both, the direction of the school, and the students. After a few weeks of planning and arranging how it was going to be done, it was finally settled and ready to start. Since then it has had excellent results.
Now, living in London, I would love to continue doing what I have been enjoying this many years

As a language student, I have realized how lucky I have been learning them not as much from a theoretical perspective, but from a practical one. These great experience I have had with languages I achieve it to the native tutors I had throughout my childhood and those abroad experiences I gained with time. This is the reason why I like to make my classes the most interactive and dynamic way possible, with different techniques that involve the total attention and participation of the student, treating both oral and written comprehension and expression. Giving a previous basic theory, introducing grammar and vocabulary, and a lot of methods, tricks and tips to make it as easier and enjoyable as possible.

I have known marina for 3 years now. She has taught my 15 year old daughter for the past 2 years, helping her with her Spanish through out quatrieme and troisieme in her french school in Madrid. Marina is a really optimistic, enthusiastic and compromised girl. She is very hard working, which was clearly reflected on the improvements my daughter made.
