About Quinta

I am a university student currently studying towards a Master's by Research. I completed a Bachelor's degree in International Relations, but for the first year and a half this was International Relations with Spanish. As much as I enjoyed Spanish at a university level, the course was divided in a manner that meant I was giving each subject 50%, while most of my peers were full-time Spanish, or full-time International Relations. Having studied Spanish from the age of 11, I was capable of confidently communicating with Spanish natives and was happy with this proficiency, so I decided to drop Spanish so I could prioritise International Relations. Two years later I am happy with my decision as it allowed me to achieve a first class degree, and I have independently maintained my passion for Spanish through reading, listening to music, and communicating with friends! For this reason, I take an interests-based approach. It's a lot easier to remember a grammatical structure if you learnt it by translating your favourite song!

About the lesson

I find information sticks the best when it appeals to your interests, I encourage learning Spanish by reading a translation of your favourite book, or listening to Spanish renditions of famous songs. Doing this prevents word for word translation and provides an understanding of how the Spanish language works, rather than just providing phrases to be repeated. My lessons are approximately 45 minutes to one hour, and are suited for GCSE students of any ability.
