About Grace
I start from one principle: you cannot think clearly about politics, international relations, or society without understanding power, class, and imperialism. That doesn't mean you have to agree with me. It means I will teach you how to use Marxist and critical frameworks as analytical tools (alongside mainstream theories) so you can argue better, write stronger essays, and see what others miss.
I hold a First Class Honours degree in International Relations and am currently completing an LLM in International Law. I also spent five years working inside the UK government, in the Ministry of Justice and the National Crime Agency. That means I don't just know the theory, but I've seen how the state actually applies politics and the law
Outside of formal study, I work as an editorial assistant for a Marxist non-profit book publisher, and I've appeared on multiple podcasts discussing international law and imperialism. I'm also a political organiser with a number of UK organisations, including organising brigades to Cuba.
I've had papers accepted to academic journals, and have given talks at academic conferences on political economy and internationalism. I'm currently training towards becoming a professor of international law, and tutoring is part of that journey. I want to become the kind of teacher I wish I'd had as a student: rigorous, passionate, and genuinely invested in your success.

Every student is different. A 15-year-old struggling with GCSE Citizenship needs different support than a BA student writing a dissertation on humanitarian intervention, or an activist wanting to understand international law. So I don't use a fixed curriculum. Instead:
- First session (free half-hour): We talk through your goals, your syllabus (exam board, course modules, assignment briefs), and your current confidence level. I then design a personalised plan.
- Regular sessions (60 minutes): I structure lessons around your specific goals and learning style.
For school-age students: Helping with homework, working on a specific syllabus topic, exam question practice, adding in layered critical perspectives as enrichment.
For undergraduate students: Deep dives on theory and methodology, workshopping arguments, reading critical scholars together, strengthening essay and dissertation writing.
For adult learners (activists, organisers, self-taught): Applying Marxist and anti-imperialist theory to current events, working through books or podcasts, discussing political strategy.
