About Olivia

Hi! My name is Olivia and my expertise is in tutoring English, primarily with primary age children. I'm from Chelmsford, but I recently graduated with my International Baccalaureate Diploma while studying abroad in Singapore. While living in Singapore, I worked with pre-school/primary aged children in different environments, from teaching reading skills to coaching water safety and beginners swimming. I have a true passion for helping younger children succeed and understand how to work with younger children!

About the lesson

My tutoring is aimed at primary/pre-school age children looking to improve their basic English skills and literacy to prepare for their journey into upper school. I am also available for IB Diploma students for English Literature, with experience in this area as I graduated with my IB Diploma with Literature Higher Level. My aim is to address all weak areas in students' learning to make them feel confident and supported, as I believe a successful tutoring environment is one where the student feels comfortable to ask questions whenever needed. During lessons, I focus on key English skills such as reading, spelling, grammar, writing, comprehension, and vocabulary. My lessons typically will be around 1 hour, however I am flexible to adapt to whatever length feels most successful for the student. Moreover, I also strongly believe that building a friendly environment can boost learning and make the student feel more comfortable, through interactive measures to help boost confidence and conversational skills. This will be adapted to support each individual student as well. Having worked with young children before in various environments including teaching and in sports, I have patience and organisational skills to ensure each session has the best outcome for the student. Furthermore, having recently completed my IB Diploma, I understand the value of developing strong English skills and will always do my best to ensure lessons are engaging, encouraging, and suited to each student's needs.
