About Helena

My name is Helena, and I am a passionate tutor for children and adults. After graduating from my Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, I am serving as a pre-licensed clinical psychologist and work as a Research Assistant at a university. Although my educational background is rooted mainly in psychology, I have been involved in various teaching opportunities around the world, where I have developed a deep passion for tutoring—helping students reach their personal and professional goals. I believe my background in counseling can be a unique asset and has helped me provide a unique person-centered and validadting teaching approach.

Over the past 10 years, I have developed a strong skill set in teaching and have tutored children and adults worldwide.
For example, in Germany, I taught Latin to a 12-year-old student. As an Au Pair in Mexico, I worked with children attending the Swiss College, teaching them German. During my Erasmus in the UK, I assisted refugees and migrants as an "English as a Second Language" (ESOL) tutor. Later, I worked as a tuition tutor assisting children and young adults with Latin, Spanish, English, and Maths, helping them achieve their best grades during the ongoing pandemic. Lastly, during my last year of university, I taught a psychology module to undergraduate students.

This was where I discovered my deep interest in transmitting knowledge, creating lesson plans tailored to my students' personal needs, and seeing them continue to grow their unique strengths and achieve their personal and professional goals.

Therefore, I would be thrilled to continue supporting students by offering tuition classes. Fluent in German (mother tongue), Spanish B2, and English C1 (IELTS), I can teach German, English, and Spanish to beginners or advanced students who want to start or refresh their knowledge.

About the lesson

I deeply enjoy teaching, an activity where I can share my knowledge and help my students on their path to achieving their desired grades and personal goals. In particular, I am passionate about teaching languages and aspects of the cultures they are rooted in - an opportunity to inspire people to become curious about different places around the world, connect with locals while on holiday, or make use of exchange/volunteer/scholarship opportunities around the world.
Even though a subject might seem challenging at the beginning, with the necessary support from a teacher and the right personalized teaching approach tailored to students' needs and skills, understanding a subject can become achievable.
I have been tutoring a wide range of students in different subjects for almost 10 years, and I have always found joy in this activity. I consider every student an individual with individual qualities and strengths. This approach allows me to find the most adaptable way for my students to develop the necessary qualifications and achieve not just their academic requirements but also their personal goals.
Overall, my approach is holistic, and intersectional providing my students with a safe space to improve their grades and learn a new language and culture.
