About Maria

I myself am a student that has just completed my A-levels with predicted grades A*AA, and am looking to start at Imperial College London this year in Bsc Biochemistry. I have had a two year private tutoring experience in Pakistan and worked as an English teacher at English Language Club during my Overseas teaching experience. Moreover, I obtained 3 A*'s, 4A's at GCSE level, so I am looking to equip other students who want to boost their grades with excellent study techniques. I am incredibly passionate about sharing beneficial knowledge that I have gathered through years of following highly experienced teachers, distinction students and peers, which is why I ask for minimal fee each hour. For me, information must be carefully and clearly taught to each student, with some one-on-one time always there to discuss any concerns. Students consistently asking questions is highly appreciated, because an intelligent mind is an inquisitive mind!

About the lesson

•My teaching method is to first explain the topic to the student in basic terms so that they grasp the main concept.
•I then write out detailed and comprehensive bullet points on the topic, which are usually a combination of my own knowledge and the textbook.
• I make sure the student copies these down as this is the relevant, to-the-point information the student will need to revise for future examinations. I also want the student to invest their time more into questions, as testing their knowledge is the most crucial step.
•Furthermore, I give the student around five mintues to read over the newly written notes to answer any questions they have.
•Consequently, I take a quick verbal quiz to see if there are any gaps in their knowledge.
•Once I am satisfied the student is clear with the topic, I set them specific past paper questions and some of my own. I mark these, and discuss the pros and cons of their work with the student to develop their exam techniques.

The aim is to not overburden the student, but to keep each lesson detailed yet easy to comprehend.
